I just moved down here last month from the NW and have never experienced any sort of natural disaster (sorry, I don't exactly have a better word at the moment.) Well, i guess you could call Freezing Rain, that left 2+ inches on EVERYTHING, something close... but still nothing compared to what people experienced down here a few years ago.
I guess I'm just wondering what i should expect. My boyfriend and two other roomies will all do their best.... but I'm certainly getting really worried about Gustav.
It's all in due time... I'll find out in a few days! I wish the best for everyone! Please be safe!

Tippy, where did you move to here in MS? IF you are anywhere coastal, please take heed and at least move inland North of I-10 to be out of the storm surge that will occur should it hit the MS coast. To get out of damaging winds, North of Jackson is the rule of thumb. And that can change according to the landfall of the storm.

Please stay safe, I would be devestated to see any further harm come to those I grew to love, and the area I also love so much.

We've been following this on the Weather Channel and have heard about the evacuations. Please stay safe everyone. Evacuate if they are asking you to do that and remember your pets. You're all in our prayers and we're all thinking about you.

The storm was projected to be a 3, and its now a 4 and projected to be a 5 soon. I have already phoned friends on the coast to let them know I have a spare bedroom here in Jackson.
I don't wish harm on anyone, but I sure hope the storm moves west or dies out all together. The MS coast is still rebuilding from Katrina, another blow would be devastating to the moral.
