Finally here!
Anyhow, we finally made it down here (to MS) aside from dodging a few moving boxes still in the house, I would venture that we are about 90% moved in. We have a nice house in Clinton, and so far we HAVE LOVED IT. We have met the nicest folks we have ever met, our neighborhood is diverse, and the boys have loved it too. The YMCA is great, and we haven't had a bad experience at ALL. Humidity and fire ants kinda suck but outside of that all is GREAT.
How bad will we get hit when we register the vehicles? I have heard that Hinds fees will be high.
Anyhow, thanks to all who gave us input!

We too were surprised about the gas station food! While moving in my wife sent me out to get some sandwiches and chips, so when I arrived at the convenience store (all preped to buy those cheap old ham/cheese, turkey cheese sandwiches and I see the Barbecue sandwhiches they are selling under the heat lamps, I had to go for those. WE LOVED them, man, that food is quick good, and handdown beats anything you can get from a fast food restaurant, and it was cheap too!

Welcome to Mississippi! I hope you continue to love it. Clinton is a great place to live. The price of the car tags probably will shock you. I've been here a long time and they still shock me every year. When I moved from Brandon to Kosciusko, the price almost doubled!

Hey John
I moved to Raymond about 5 month's ago so welcome to the neighborhood!
You will love Clinton as you already seem to. Lots of spots along 80 east of Springridge Rd. to eat. Clinton is growing fast.
Your tags will depend on your vehicles age and value. I have a 2005 saturn Vue and they were about $300 I think. You have 30 days for the tags and 60 for your license. You can call the court house and they will tell you over the phone the fee for your vehicle. That's what I did. I think the Raymond Court House serves you but I'm not sure. I'm still new and learning. Go early and you will be in and out.

The Raymond courthouse will definitely be the most convenient to you and it's usually not crowded.

If you'd like someone to show you around Raymond, let me know, and I might can if it doesn't interfere with classes. Raymond is super-tiny, but there's a great home-cooking restaurant here. There are a lot of nice restaurants in Clinton, too, but I can't think of any by name right now! Ahh! Just drive down Hwy 80 and you'll see plenty of choices on both sides of the road. Be sure to get a real breakfast with grits and biscuits with gravy, and give fried okra a try sometime, too.
