Default Jackson Ms Relocation Help

Im relocating from southern La to Jackson, Ms and needed some advice on relocating. Im looking to spend appx 225k-250k on a home within 30-40 minute commute to downtown Jackson. Low crime and good private schools are of utmost importance. Thx.

Look in Madison or the Reservoir area of Rankin County. You won't need private schools in those areas unless you just want them. St. Andrews or Jackson Prep would probably be the best if you want private school. You would want to live in Madison for St. Andrews or probably in Flowood for Prep. Those areas would be closest to the 2 schools. Don't even bother to look in Jackson for a house if you care about safety.

Auntbee is right, living in the city limits is an invitation to becoming a crime victim. However there are a few decent places if you must live in the city. Belhaven or NE Jackson are safer than most other areas. Jackson Academy is located in NE Jackson and is a good private school.

Rankin Co. out HWY 25 gives you proximity to Jackson Prep or University Christian School (Small), but also to the NE Rankin school system which is growing and building new schools. If is sort of a flight-for-safety area.

The City of Madison is relatively safe (although run by a dictator LOL) and also has Madison-Ridgeland Academy in the same area as St. Andrews. St. Joseph is also in that area.

Good luck.
