Default North Jackson & Public School?

We found a townhouse in the North Jackson area its on the Jackson side of East County Line Road. The public school is McLeod Elementary School. How is this school? We are a military family and I have heard from other people that have been stationed in MS that the public schools are really bad in comparison to the rest of the nation. I am afraid my daughter will fall behind once we leave MS.

Would it be wiser to send her to a private school like Jackson Academy?

No thanks, I'd rather stay up here in the clouds.

Moderator cut: edit Greatschools has McLeod Elementary rated as a 6 out of 10, however, so it doesn't seem to be suffering from horrible test scores (compared to the rest of the schools in Mississippi.) I can't really give any other information, but I hope that this piece of information was somewhat helpful.

I would choose Jackson Academy rather than a public school if you can afford it. The public schools in Jackson just aren't very good I'm sorry to say.

Thank you for your input. We have been looking into Jackson Academy and Christ Covenant . Anyone with personal experience with either school?

Thanks again!
