No Mississippi don't have palm trees. Well only if someone bought one for their yard.

Real Palm Trees can live in many different states... Even the Northern States. Some palms like the cold weather.

I've seen palms as far north as Delaware.

I hate palms. They're all over LA and they are always dropping husks and seeds.

Seen alot of palms in SC, its a wonder why its called the palmetto state

Would be nice to see more palms in MS especially since the climate fits, like Spain is full of palms it gives it a real nice feel to the place.

There are a variety of palms along the MS Coast, and most any type will grow there as evidence by what you see all over the coast. I have seen palms as far north as Jackson, and when in Hot Springs, AR, I saw palms there...so if its hardy enough of a breed, I guess they can grow pretty far north.
As for beaches, MS beach is very nice with white powdery sand. There are very little waves and the water is kinda lite coffee color...this is due to the fact there are islands 12 miles off shore that break the blue green waved water from coming in. The MS Coast is actually the coast of the MS Sound...not the Gulf of Mexico...which is truly on the south side of the off shore islands.
AL and FL may have prettier water...but thats about it. They do not, and probably never will have, the entertainment venues that will ever come close to MS. MS has world class resorts, plus golfing and all the other ammenties that are found in AL and Fl....beaches, deep sea fishing and the like. If your looking for the "Total" package, one needs to look no further than The Mississippi Gulf Coast...they dont call it the Playground of the South for nothing.

Its all good until hurricane season comes then your on tender hooks.

That is the only con I have about the MS gulf coast, that is a personal worry of mine if I was moving to that area.

Imagine building a beautiful home, having all my belongings and then they get destroyed - family photos and things that cannot be replaced. I'd be devastated.

You face that chance in any coastal region...however, prior to Katrina, a hurricane hadn't hit since Camille

There is always that mindset of fear though when the season comes, that is a worry for me.
