Shopping in Jackson
Hey everyone. Me and my family will be driving threw Jackson on I-20 and wondering if there are any good malls near I-20 for me and my family to shop at. If so, is it a safe place to shop at, and is there a movie theather there? Thanks for your info.

The only mall I know of along I-20 in Jackson is Metrocenter but I personally wouldn't recommend shopping there. There is a movie theater in Pearl called Tinseltown off exit 48, Pearson Road. You should be able to find some shops near there using Google Maps or some other map service.
I notice that you're in Chicago. If you're going south along I-55 to Jackson, then you'll be able to shop in Ridgeland. There are two malls there, Renaissance, which is off the Old Agency Road exit, and Northpark Mall, which is off County Line Road going east. There are many shops along the County Line Road corridor and there is a movie theater at Northpark.

Thanks. I will have to check out that Northpark Mall. I am from Chicago but have been in Louisiana for a bit.

I would recommend Fondren for shopping, its an artsy area on N State St, near Old Canton Rd, that has several shops that are not your normal big box, corporate stores. Also, there is Highland Village at I-55 and Northside Drive. It has some higher priced stores, with some of Jackson's best restaurants as well.

Coming through Jackson you can also visit Highland Village Shopping Center over near Maywood Mart of I-55. This is a convenient area right off the highway. The metrocenter is not that bad, you still have stores like Belks, Sears, Burlington, and others.

Not so much, at least not yet. Come back in a few years and I think it will be different, but right now, there's not much downtown as far as retail goes. Most everything downtown is business offices or government buildings, but like I said, I expect that to change in the near future.

I agree Jacksonian. I really do. Come back to this city in a few years and expect a change to the area. I recommend you come ride through downtown currently and view it a few years after. If we can stabilize our populations and produce a few more "economic developments" we will move forward like a capital and largest city suppose to.
