Default Process (Stone County, Wiggins, MS)
We have recently bought 8 acres of land in Stone County (Wiggins, MS). It's raw land and this is going to be our first home. Can anyone please help me with figuring out the correct process? Clearing, bringing in water and electricity, septic tank, and the process for picking, purchasing (using a piece of the land) and bringing in a double wide. Absolutley ANY information would be GREATLY appreciated.

If the land has trees, get a Timber cruise(sp?) first. Then see the Stone County Planning Authority for regulations. Then, get local opinions and check out the contractors references. Some counties have different requirements for mobile homes than for traditional brick and mortar or stick built housing than others, but the Building Commission or whatever the county of Stone calls it, I'm sure you'll have no problem contacting the correct agency thru the Stone County Court House.
