Best Food Item(s) at Jerry's Catfish?
Hi-
Last year I flew from my home in Dallas to Jackson then drove a rent car to Laurel for some friend's wedding. I just missed the chance to eat at Jerry's Catfish in Florence which was recommended to me as the best restaurant in the Jackson-Metro area.
I missed it because my mother's aunt & uncle from Montgomery (Hope Hull), AL drove in from Lake, MS where they were visiting friends to eat with us at Eldorado Steakhouse in Jackson.
I am theorizing a return to MS for the Battlefield @ Vicksburg that I've never seen but have flown over and Jerry's Catfish in Florence but donno yet when.
What are the Best Food Item(s) at Jerry's Catfish?
Thanks,
fallguy

PS When I say 'eat with us' I mean this is a trip I took with my parents.

I'm not trying to sound sarcastic at all here, but you're going to want to order the fried catfish. It's been a while since I have been to that particular fish camp, but it should come with fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, toast, and you have to get sweet tea to go with it (not really, but it is the usual).

Yeah, look out for that sweet tea, it's sweet enough that a good slug of it will make your ears ring.
Whenever I'm back down in the South, it's always fascinating how the wait staff respond to me, with a perfect Southern accent, asking for unsweetend tea, and then not taking any of the big fistful of Sweet-n-Low that they bring out with it...
When I lived in Port Gibson several years ago, there were more than a few good restaurants in Vicksburg as well, and at least one good one at the Depot in Port Gibson itself.
In this part of the country, really, you can just drop in to any of the "Ma and Pa" "Meat and 3" type restaurants all over, and get really great food at almost all of them.
