Be sure to take him to see a Mississippi Braves game in Pearl. They are an Atlanta Braves minor league team and he would probably enjoy that. You can buy tickets online at their website if you want to get them ahead of time. I'm not sure about any of the other things you asked, but I'm sure somebody here could help.

I'm not sure if Mississippi is the right place for a rodeo. Are you sure you don't mean somewhere out west?

Actually Nancy, we have one of the largest rodeos every year, the Dixie National, but unfortunately it just occurred last month. I don't follow rodeos much, but I'm sure there are more during the year here, just not sure of size or location.

Not rodeos but barrel racing has become VERY popular in this part of the state. It's become a popular family activity folks can ALL participate in rather than just showing up on fridays to watch Billy Bob play quarterback and Sissy cheerlead. There are probably a dozen corrals within forty miles of here and its very unlikely a weekend night will pass without a competition somewhere in the area. The events are pretty small and very intimate meaning you're not just sitting in the stands (unless you want to) you can walk around, shake hands and interact with the animals (to a degree - no one wants their 9 year old daughter racing along on the back of a skittish horse).

You can get the tickets at a number of places around town, including at the ball park. The Braves will be playing Montgomery (Tampa Bay Rays team) Aug. 1-5. They'll be gone for a while, but will be back Aug. 17-21 to play Mobile (Arizona Diamondbacks team). You should have no problem getting tickets at the park. (Provided there isn't a member of the Atlanta Braves rehabbing here at that time). I just thought you might want to get them ahead of time.
