Default What are the winters like in Tupelo?

wunderground.com says Tupelo didn't get any snow last year. Is that normal? What are the temperatures like?

Mississippi rarely gets any snow in winter. Every other year or so we'll get some mushy ice, and every five or six years we'll get about five inches of snow that'll melt within a day or two. This year it was warm until mid-December, then it was chilly until late February. That's about it for cold weather. Don't expect to go sledding or skiing in Mississippi!

It has been mentioned that our area is changing to more of a tropical climate, I can't remember the last time our ground froze. It has been that long! Just expect most winters to be wet with short bursts of cold air followed by a slight warming. It seems our coldest weather pretty much happens after the new year.

The weather rapidly cycles in the winter, with the high ranging from the 30s to 70s in January.
