Default How are the beaches on Ship Island?

Is the water a nice blue color with nice white, wide sandy beaches? Any info on whether East Ship and West Ship have recovered after the devastating hurricane this past Fall? I've heard the Islands were wiped out. Is this true? I was hoping to make a visit this summer.

I haven't been since a few months before Katrina. I know Ship Island beaches were much better than anything on the actual coastline of Mississippi. The water was not clear like Destin or the Caribbean, but it wasn't brown like it is within the Sound either. It was always Mississippi's best public beach.
Not sure what the water or the services are like out there now.

The water is blue on the south side of ship island. As you know Katrina split them up. The water is more brown on the north side of ship island to Biloxi.
