I will be doing some traveling this summer and I'm thinking about passing through Natchez. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is there an area with lots of restaurants? Any dog-friendly hotels?

Where should I stay?

What should I do?

My apologies for the shameless bump. Are there any restaurants that I shouldn't miss?

Lovely little city. You probably won't be there for the spring or fall home pilgrimages, but there are still several homes that are open for touring, especially Rosalie, Melrose, Longwood and Stanton Hall, the latter of which operates a restaurant renowned for its fried chicken. Be sure to eat tamales at Fat Mama's. Take a carriage tour. Ride to the north part of town and get out and walk along the bluff. There's a fascinating cemetery. Across the river, there is a very nice Comfort Inn and a restaurant on the river (and drive-through liquor stores in Vidalia!). Go by the farmers' market in downtown Natchez and eat their beignets in the morning. Natchez has a huge visitors center right near the bridge and the folks there are glad to help you find things to do and see.
