I go there all the time, often in the middle of the night, for work. Gulfport is a nice, safe airport, and Biloxi isn't any more or less dangerous than any other small city. I'd be more wooried about sending someone her age out alone than about the location...

Dude, we are talking about Biloxi being unsafe? lol. It's freakin' Biloxi. It's safe. It's a small beach/casino town on the Gulf Coast. And it's 2009. No one gets upset about interracial couples anymore.

And the airport is in Gulfport, btw.

Safe or not--I still think it is weird that a parent has concerns about the town but not about the teen visiting a boyfriend at a military base in a distant city with no supervision. I am old-fashioned, I guess. My child would be dealing with books and not soldiers at that age.

When kids screw up early they often never recover--their whole life is affected. Early pregnancy and then limited education and then another pregnancy and then unskilled employment barely making ends meet and on it goes. Wussy parents with no imaginations equal kids growing up too fast ill-prepared for the world that awaits.

By the time you read this post she may have already gotten here - but if she hasn't yet insist that her boyfriend meet her at the airport - even have her reschedule her flight so he can. Done deal.
