See...we are not last...we're actually doing better than a lot of the nation, and certainly better than many other southern states.

Whats that around 10%??

Heard the economy is bad especially in MS with jobs going down to tube but its the same everywhere. Our employment rate here is 6.6% for 2009.

But what can you expect in this current economic climate? My fiance was supposed to get a job with Toyota in Blue springs. Doubt that will happen now.

I wouldn't say the economy is bad "especially in MS". We are right at the national average for unemployment. Is that bad? Yes, but not bad enough to single us out. There are many, many places in the country that are much worse.

As far as the Toyota plant, they said something recently about a 2012 target for opening. They're still not sure what they will make up there, though.

I meant that is worse than it ever was like before this economic climate because its pretty bad here too.

It's good that MS is not last though because we'd definately have a hard time getting employment there. Though things are pretty good at the Eurocopter plant in Columbus, my father in law got a good job there but as far as i am aware they're not hiring anymore but there are jobs its finding them.

Unemployment is meaningless for anything except short term indicators. One THIRD of all Mississippians are on some form of government assistance, and some counties have fewer than 20% of adults employed on a regular basis. Once you've been out of work several months you don't even count - many here have not worked in years.
