Default Where to Vacation on the Beach?

Where are some good places to either rent a beach house or stay in a resort on the gulf for a family with two kids that have never been to the area? Thanks

Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan/Orange Beach , Al. (Maybe better for families--gorgeous beach, not crowded, reasonable)recommend Gulf Shores Plantation

Pensacola/Destin/Fort Walton, Fla.

MS Gulf Coast has several new, luxury condominiums on the beach, as well as several first class resorts that rival anything that Vegas can offer. There are also some smaller hotel/motels, but not as many as there use to be, pre Katrina; and most are off the beach. The beach in MS is perfect for kids as it has little waves and virtually no undertow, it is very shallow...however, the water is not as pretty blue-green as AL or FL, unless you go out to Ship Island, where the water is just a nice. This also makes for another outing the family can do...the boat ride (12 miles) to Ship Island. There is also a nice water park in Gulfport for kids, and Gulf Islands National Seashore in Ocean Springs is very interesting as well. I am sure there is more to do for Kids....I have none, so I really dont know all that is available. I would get a Mississippi Gulf Coast Fun Times Guide...google MS Gulf Coast....it will give you the site where you can get the best and most up to date information. Have fun!

You might try some of the casino resorts in Biloxi. They have a lot of family activities. There is more going on down that way since the more western coastal towns are still pretty devistated by Katrina. Depending on the ages of your kids, there can be a lot to do down here. If they are young, there are lots of playgrounds all along the main highway that runs along the beaches. Also, D'Iberville just put in this great Kangarooz Fun Center that has numerous bouncy-house obstical courses and slides. Also, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is a fantastic children's discovery-type museum for young children.
