Na you can keep the Delta quadrant too! I'm sorry your right I shouldn't disrespect everything here! I just never saw so much Bull until I've moved down here! Yes we did try to do our homework before we came down here and what I've read it sounded like a place we could set up shop and go to town, but it was the total opposite of what we read and what was told to us! And yes I'm VERY unhappy here and yes very Frustrate. These folks are CROOKED, (worse than the worse in the city) CORRUPT ( because its the ones that run the town that take the money and leave the rest in the dirt!) undeducate (which is true to remain even written the lowest in the country and proven when we put our kids in the school down here!) Do not hire outsiders that move down here (proven when applied for jobs in Mobile, Pascagula, Hattiesburg and around here!) I know times are bad everywhere but I know better than that! No not everyone are trailer trash but its the majority that ruins it for the few!
I've looked up info about the Delta and its pretty bad there to, but is also has been for the longest time! Alot of good music came from that area but mostly songs about the slaves. Good blues music!

You know, you have some nerve.
As many times as Northerners and others come to this board (50 times
a day) making hateful blanket stereotypical comments about Mississippi
and the people in it---how dare you ride in on some high horse berating
posters here for being defensive and sharing their viewpoints.
And especially since the comments posted by Oldenfatt were TRUE.
The vast majority of comments that I have EVER seen posted on
this board by "outsiders" have been hateful, prejudicial stereotypes
such as the ones that were claimed by Oldenfatt.
I am a black woman named Claudia from California. I don't come
from Mississippi originally.
But there was nothing remiss about what Oldenfatt posted.
Maybe you should have some INTEGRITY and attack some of the
HORDES of "northerners/outsiders" who insult Mississippi ON THIS BOARD
on a daily basis before you fancy telling any of the rest of us to shut
up.

This is quite a rant, DaniMae. I can almost relate because I moved to south Mississippi decades ago from a metro area in the Northeast. I was floored. The silence, the different culture, the people had different social cues, the lifestyle--everything changed. I was in shock. In time change came--both to me and to the area. I found much of my turmoil was from my own inability to accept change and in time the South rose up and joined the new millenium.
That combination has made me a happy camper and very appreciative of the southern (notice spelling) lifestyle and community. I may have to leave as my mother becomes more elderly, but it will be with sadness.
You are being harsh and unfair because of your pain. You are in total culture shock. I am sure your attitude doesn't help make buddies or get jobs. You indict whole towns as not hiring northeners when I know of hundreds of northeners who are working here in Hattiesburg alone. I meet them everyday. I truly wish you well. I know you are in a personal crisis.

65K not something to be proud of?! Like hell it isn't! We were in the 50K range in Virginia...not wealthy but comfortable...move here to this armpit of a state and can only find minimum wage jobs! I'd take the 65K in NY any day over this hell hole!

65k ain't nothing when you figure in the cost of living...like I previously stated, I have a friend making 100k, she struggles in NY due to the cost of living...she pays twice for a 1 bdrm apt than I pay for a 3 bdrm house...grocery bill is thru the room...my 30k a year goes further than her 100k a year, and when you look at it, I'm living better

What is the type of work you are looking for? Do you have a profession or a skill, a trade, or a small business?? How did you earn the $50k in Va? Was that a combined income with your partner or an individual one?
Have you tried the casinos at the coast? Retail sales? What do you bring to the table that would put you out of the minimum wage category?
You are blasting a lot of nastiness and your foul-mouth, poor communication skills, and attitude are so apparent--do you think that might make a difference on how you are treated here in this armpit of a state. What a horrible thing to say to people who live here.
