Default Benefits of Living in MS vs. LA (

I have the option of residing in either Louisiana or Mississippi. Ill be working in Slidell, La and considering the Picayune/Poplarville area or the northshore of St. Tammany, Louisiana. Are there any benefits of residing in Ms over Louisiana (property taxes, income taxes, cost of living etc)? Also, are there any private schools in the Picayune area? Thanks.

Gas is cheaper in Mississippi. Picayune is cheaper than Slidell in most aspects, but not considerably.

I would consider the Bay St. Louis/Pass Chrisitan/Waveland area. They are doing a lot of rebuilding lately and have very nice new schools. These areas would probably be a little more expensive than Slidell, but still below the national average. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Picayune is a small town with some comfortable subdivisions on the outskirts and is convenient to both the New Orleans area and NASA near Bay St. Louis, MS. Poplarville is a smaller town with a community college, very quiet but nice. Diamondhead, MS is also a very good option on the Mississippi side, basically a golf and boating suburban community. The Louisiana side, Slidell and the Northshore, includes very nice New Orleans suburbs. The only private school in MS in that area that comes to mind is in Bay St. Louis. Pass Christian, MS has some of Mississippi's best public schools, at least in terms of student test scores.
