Default Anybody work for Northrop Grumman in Pascagoula?

I was just wondering if anybody here works at Northrop Grumman. I have been seeing advertisements for apprenticeship programs and I was wondering how hard it is to get hired. I have over 12 years experience welding but none of it has been in a shipyard. Also I'm from the St.louis Mo. area. Will they hire someone from outside of the area?

How is the housing situation down there since the hurricane? Is it hard to find a decent place to live? How about the price of insurance?

The job market where I live is not looking to good. I'm being forced to consider moving somewhere else in an effort to find a decent job and I'm just trying to see if a job in Mississippi is worth pursuing.

Default Hey

My husband is actually getting ready to apply to the apprenticeship program. From what we know, the pay is $16.97 per hour during the apprenticeship, then 19 or 20 after. You have to get an 8 in math, 10 in electrical, and 10 in something else to pass.

As far as housing and insurance, it's a little up since Katrina. I am not going to lie to you. However, that's if you choose to live in Pascagoula. Most people live in the outskirts. Lucedale, MS is about 30 minutes away and is a nice small town community. Housing is reasonable. You can consider the Mobile, AL area also, but you need to think about the small towns outside of it too. People are friendly here and it's so slow-paced. Northrop Grunman has great benefits. You may email me at dustinkerry2@aol.com if you want more information. Thanks!
