Southern town for novel!
Ok, I'm writing a novel and I've been looking all over the internet but not getting much luck.
Its set in a southern state- a small town that has big expensive mansions and by the sea but not a great communty atmosphere. Somewhere you could move and not get much attention- no nosy neighbours- but an expensive place. Cliffs and caves on private beaches type thing-- does that even exists in the south.
i have no idea and need help. if anything comes to mind please let me know.

and you can't move anywhere in a small southern town without people noticing and being nosy and gossiping about it. Just ain't gonna happen.

Better fall back on the sage, tried and true writing advice which is WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW.
It is apparent that you know little about what you propose to write about thus it is never going to have any authenticity at all.

Of course, you could do what many other authors have done. Invent a state and town that fits your requirements. But it would have to be an "alternative universe" sort of novel. - - My advice woudl be to do some traveling and learn about this country. Research your book before you write it. - You just can't find what doesn't exist.

There are no cliffs on any beach on the Gulf coast that I know of. The closer you get to the salt water, the flatter the land is. About the only caves are pit caves that fill with water.

I hate to say it but you'd be so much better off writing about somewhere that you know well or have at least visited a few times. All of the above sound more like the north to me, as in Massachusetts. Especially the no nosy neighbors part, LOL! Just consider a change of scene. I'd hate for you to put a lot of effort into something that doesn't make it because it's not authentic. Best of luck to you.
