New High School in Madison?
My husband and I are currently renting an apartment in Ridgeland and looking to buy a house in the Madison/Ridgeland area. Madison seems to be emerging as the leader due to the availability of newer homes and the reputation of the schools. We're child-free (for now), but want to be in a place with good schools for our future children. We also want to know that the area will be in high demand in case changes in our jobs require us to move (and sell) quickly.
It's my understanding that the Madison School District will be building a new high school. Any idea on when the new school is to be opened? Also, will it be full 9-12 grades? Finally, where is the school going to be located & which middle schools/subdivisions are most likely to feed into it?

Never mind, I just found the answer to my own question. It's not a done deal yet, but there's a bond vote in September. If approved, the school would be built in the Gluckstadt area. I still don't know a timetable for when the district thinks construction would begin and end. If anyone knows the answer to that, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I had to search everywhere to find this info. I don't know why it isn't readily available on the school district website. It's their proposal, you'd think they would want to give as much information as possible in order to generate support for the vote.

No thanks, I'd rather stay up here in the clouds.

Gluckstadt High School, perhaps?
There's so much construction going on in that area that it's only a matter of time before Gluckstadt becomes incorporated. It'll probably be quickened if Queen Mary decides to expand her kingdom further north.

It's all the same school district (Madison County) so I think all the schools are equally good. Ridgeland High might have a slight edge to me because it has fewer students. One of my kids graduated from Madison Central, one from Ridgeland, one from a private school in Jackson, and one got a GED and went on to college.

Leave out the part about the good schools, and I feel the same way about Jackson.

That's too bad. I guess you don't like places that have actual districts and neighborhoods with character and history, places that have a real Downtown, or places that can actually be considered a real city. It's funny how those who hate Jackson live in places that would not even exist if it weren't for Jackson...

People don't realize that we should be trying to improve our captial city, instead of bad-mouthing it, jacksonian. I agree with you, it's the goose that laid the golden egg.
