Smile Info on property taxes along the coast?????

Does anyone know about property tax rates on the coast? We love the area and have been visiting for years. We would love to get a small house /condo to stay in when we are there- 3-4 months per year. We would also like to rent to summer/early winter "snowbirds" I found a condo for $ 100,000 with property taxes of $8700+ per year. WOW!!! Is this the range all along the coast. I nearly dropped my TEETH with that number!! Any part time residents out there?? Do the cities vary in the tax rates? We would not qualify for homestead for now.

Red face it's in GP, 1200 sq ft

I know, I triple checked to see if I read it right. I still think the agent got the decimal point wrong. It is asking under $100,000. Maybe the listing agent didn't want my girl to sell it????

As far as I know all of the Beach Front Condos are new and priced to match. But each town varies in taxes with Long Beach and Pass Christian being the highest. Pass Christian does not have much left anymore and Long Beach is still working on water lines and etc. to the Beach Front area. The main Beach Front growth that I have seen, seems to be Condos in the Biloxi and Gulfport areas and of course the Casinos that reopened. Most houses and businesses that were South of the railroad tracks were destroyed so there aren't really any Houses to buy on the Beach Front only empty lots. If a house remained then it has probably been gutted-or needs to be gutted. You also might want to check in to insurance prices for the areas that are close to the beach.
