Ole Miss #8 in the nation?
Is this really possible? Ole Miss in the preseason Top 10?
Could Ole Miss play Florida for the SEC? I went to Ole Miss. I would not really care if they lost, as long as they went there.
Historically Ole Miss has not been a very good football team. Usually an after ran team that plays in the Liberty Bowl or the Independence Bowl (which is a fun after run bowl actually).
Could Ole Miss set on fire and get into the Sugar Bowl? (the SEC winner plays for the BCS championship)

I guess you don't follow sports closely because Ole Miss has been top 15 in every poll that has been announced since June. Jevan Snead is on a few watch lists including the Heisman.
As a transplant from Arkansas, I pull for Houston Nutt to win. He just happens to be coaching at Ole Miss. That is until the Hogs head into Oxford later this year and I'll be calling the Hogs all day long!

I suspect the fame will be short lived. They may do well in the SEC, and I certainly expect Ole Miss to have a winning season, but I don't see them making it to the big show just because they had one good year under Nutt.

Also, you assume that the SEC winner is automatically going to the National Championship game. Big mistake! The SEC has to run through the same BCS poll as everyone else. Expect the Big 12 to upset the apple cart, again.

Statistics are in our favor. In the last 10 seasons, the SEC has made it to the championship game 5 times and is 5-0. The Big 12 has gone 6 times with a record of 2-4.
