I lived in Columbus eons ago...I never made it over to the Spring Pilgrimage Tours, but heard they were fantastic. The people dress up in "period" clothing (think Scarlett O'hara at the BBQ in Gone With the Wind)...can't believe I never made it there when I lived there and now wish I had not let that opportunity pass me by! But, like someone said, Natchez is the "mecca" for antebellum homes! I've heard Vicksburg is really nice, too! Also, Yazoo City and, of course, Columbus!

We've stopped in Vicksburg quite a bit going to and from Atlanta. We really liked touring the War Memorial museum. that's one impressive place to visit!!! HUGE graveyard.

We were scared on the tour through it. all the winding curves and cliffs OMG!...it's hard to believe a war was fought in those deep ravens. Now I know why it was hard for the Union army to take Mississippi during those wars.

Yeah Vicksburg has plenty of history too from the Battle of Vicksburg. They also have the Coca Cola Museum if you've never been there before. Coca Cola was first bottled there in 1894. I remember going to most of this as I was going up on field trips from Jackson. The excitement of leaving outside the city when I was young. I visit Vicksburg all the time now b/c its not far from my home in West Jxn/Clinton ..... except it's not the sights anymore I visit, it's the casinos .

The Natchez spring pilgrimage, held during March-April is the best time to see the antebellum homes.
