My husband and I are moving to Starkville soon, and we're having a tough time finding a place. We need somewhere that is pet friendly without a weight limit or at least one over over 40lbs. We'd like a house as long as the rent wasn't more that $400 and something a month. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Realistically, it's going to be really tough to find a house for that kind of money...... it's hard enough finding an apartment for a reasonable price.

Agreed anything under 500 in starkville would probably get you a trailer in the country at best. I can tell you i paid 250 per person in an apt. right next to MSU and it was extremely small. Not to discourage you but it will be hard to find. You would have a better chance of finding something like that in West Point.

I wouldn't mind paying $500 a month if the place didn't charge a pet rent or if some utilities were included. I've talked to one apartment complex that runs $575, and the manager said we could have as many pets as we wanted. There aren't any utilities included though. I'm not sure if it's a good deal or not.

I don't know of anywhere in Starkville that includes any utilities except water and trash. $575 is a good price for Starkville, but without knowing where it is, it's difficult to say whether that area is safe. Also, everywhere I know of charges a pet deposit or fee. It's just standard. Are you looking for a two bedroom?

We found another place called Pine Grove Apartments. They said they had a 2BDR available for $400 a month with water included. They also said all three of our dogs were fine. Does anyone know about this place? Is it in a safe neighborhood? We're going to look at it this week, but I don't know anything about the neighborhoods in Starkville. If it's a nice place in a safe neighborhood, we'll probably sign the lease this week because it's too good a deal to pass up.

I don't think Starkville really has an "unsafe" area. It appears these apartments are just a bit north of downtown along North Montgomery, which is a bit on the lower income side but not a "bad" or "unsafe' per se. It's a quiet mix of small houses here and there, a few apartments etc. It's not really all that developed one way or the other. I would say for that price, go for it...

You need to check it out for yourself. It wouldn't bother me to live there, but you might feel differently. Let us know how it goes.

Well we looked at the apartment and loved it. We signed the lease, and we're moving in in May. The apartment isn't fancy per say, but it's pretty spacious. The neighborhood is nice, and it's only about ten minutes from State. We're there for a year at least, and it seems like it's going to be a good one. Now all we have to worry about is jobs. Lol
