Chinese Language/Culture (Starkville: offer, friends, living)

In another thread I mentioned that I would spend one year at Starkille. I treasure this opportunity very much. I would make efforts to learn as much as possible. On the other hand, I would like to make more American people understand Chinese culture too. At present, I consider that to teach Chinese language might be a start point. Are there any friends interested in learning Chinese language? Or let me know what you want to know, and I could prepare for it before I leave for the United States. Thank you.

I hate to sound negative, but from my experience living in MS, a significant number of people have a hard enough time with English. Your attempt to enlighten is most appreciated, and I wish you the best of luck.

Univ. of So. Miss has offered Chinese in the past. Don't know about now. Contact the ESL program or foreign language dept. in Starkville and you might find some interest in an informal set-up for some Chinese lessons.

Learn Chinese? That's pretty daunting! But...many folks are fascinated by Chinese history, arts and culture. You might do better starting there. Good luck to you, and welcome to the Southeastern United States!
