No you don't get places like that anywhere in the world, ha but like I said I'm not sure about their hours and just if I went in there with a few people I might be a little worred, both times I have been were with big groups of people ha one time one of the locals that was there didn't like us being there so the sprayed pepper spray in the ac so it sprayed everyone, it was pretty scary because no one knew what was going on and nobody could breathe.

Po Monkey's gets a lot of tourists; you'll be fine there. Cleveland /Merigold is a nice little college town and has some great restaurants.
I dont know how much "exploring" you'd want to do on your own in Greenville, that could be a bit more culture shock than you want.

If you are in Indianola, be sure to check out the 308 Blues Club. I'm somewhat biased, but WE do provide a wide-array of live blues and blues-inspired music most Fridays and Saturdays. We're conveniently located behind the B.B. King Museum and across from the Indianola Police Department (so you'll be very safe!). Check us out - 308 Blues Club and Cafe

Reviving this old thread to add a comment. Just came back from first trip to the Delta and Clarksdale. What a place!! Bluesy as all get out--near the Mississippi where you can actually put your feet into the water. King coitton everywhere--at least the fields--and do stay at The Shack Up Inn-on the Hopson Plantation--words can't describe it. Google it and get the scoop. Comfortable, friendly, convenient and really unique!!
