Hello,
I have been living in the Montana countryside for along time.I use private well water and a septic system.
I am contemplating moving into the city. I have not paid a water or sewer
bill since I lived in Seattle many years ago. Would a person who lives in a city, such as Missoula, care to enlighten me on the average W/S bill for
a 3 bed 2 bath type house. Thanks .
Arleigh-20

Hi, I haven't answered your question because I don't know. I rent a house in Missoula and, as is usual in the area, water/sewer is included with rent. I think many, if not most, other regular members of the MT forum are on well-and-septic so they wouldn't know, either.

I would contact the Mountain Water Co. Mountain Water Company and see if they can answer your questions.

Good luck with your move!

To my knowledge, I didn't think we had anybody on here from there. But there is no reason to make rude comments like this. We don't know so we didn't answer. Did you want no answer or guesses as to what it was?

Default ???

Perhaps City Data has the answer on the main site page for Missoula ?
I have no idea how to get that kind of data except by doing web searches.
Maybe someone will do the footwork and come up with the answers, maybe not.

Thanks to you folks who responded kindly. I thought maybe someone in this forum may live in the city and offer a roundabout figure. Looks like that is not the case. I will try the water dept and get an estimate from them. I think it may prove much more reasonable here, than in the big coastal cities. In the 80,s and early nineties I have paid as much as $100-$200 for water and sewer monthly, for a 3 bedroom home.
As for the rude responder, an acknowledgement, whether it answers my question or not, is polite.

I've lived on well water almost all of my life and have no idea what city water costs.

I lived in Kalispell for a time but we had a tiny little place and now we live in the sticks with a well and our power as well as our Telephone/internet provider are both co-ops so we have really low rates.
Missoula cost of living I know nothing about but I do know I detest having to go to Missoula as the traffic has become awful.
I think asking the utility companies is the best way to get this information and may not take more than a phone call or two.
Now to find out which utility companies serve Missoula ???
