Only thing I dislike about UM is the fanaticism regarding the Griz... football season especially. That is all that the university seems to talk about is sports, sports, sports. There are other things to do, but athletics will take precedence over everything else.
Oh Lord! Yes there is some "fanaticism" regarding our beloved Grizzly sports, particularly football and growing in the basketball program, men and women. In my opinion athletics, and especially good programs, is the glue that binds alumni to the university. 'Fanatic' alums are those most likely to support their alma mater, (not only in athletic giving, but to the general giving program), along with a somewhat dying breed of Greek alums. Donations from these people make many things possible at the U of M and I will submit that a ho-hum Griz program would dry lots of dollars up.

So, U of M is a vibrant campus, reknown for its beauty, envied for its Football venue nationally, and proud of its academic achievments. At last count UM was 5th nationally among state-supported schools in the production of Rhoads Scholars and has a enviable number of Pulitzer Prize winners and Fulbright Scholar recipients and, as they say, "We also play a little football"!

GO GRIZ

Tom

Default be careful though...

the university of montana is a decent, respectable, and affordable school however; thats mostly for taking classes. Registration, the registrar, and anybody there handling transcripts and grades seem to fumble those things like they were on fire. I like the classes but, at the beginning of every semester I have to fight the restrar and the dean over something on my transcript because of repeated foul ups with my grades, academic standings, and my credits. this semesters battle consists of the school now wanting me to pay for an extra semester that I never even attended. $3600.00 and you can come back this fall . Otherwise its a good choice.
