Draw your own conclusions........................
I think what I should have addressed in terms of winter temps was that the cold I experienced in the Midwest, was a different type of cold than what I experience here in the Bitterroot. I suppose everyone experiences it differently. I can say with certainty that the 13 degrees night I had here was no where near as intolerable than a below zero night in the midwest. lol I cannot explain it, but it's biting cold there.

And, when I first moved to California (bay area) in august one year, I thought I was going to freeze to death all that fall. I was bundling up while everyone around me thought I was crazy! It's a cold to the bone type of dampness there! Especially when one gets closer to the beach.

And the summers can be hellish. That humidity is quite something huh?
It can sure get hot here in Mt, but it's a dry heat. And the nights cool down considerably. In the midwest, sometimes the heat index is so high the night is sticky and uncomfortably hot!

Not sure if you're up for a short commute, but Lolo is quiet, and it has quite a few apartments up for rent right now. A friend of mine is a life long resident there and really enjoys it. Good luck to you! Hope you find something that works much better for you.
