Default Thank You MrsG and ShadowCaver

I just wanted to publicly acknowledge what a great job you folks do with helping out the people that come into the forum with questions. It is very rare that someone is as willing to go that extra mile to assist total strangers as I, and I'm sure the majority of people here, have seen you good folks do. I know ShadowCaver does not reside here but his experience and the information he provides is incredible and very informative. MrsG (I hope you don't mind me calling you that) is like having the best neighbor in the world living "virtually" right next door. You have a great way of putting things in perspective MrsG and I enjoy reading what you have to say no matter the topic. Thanks to everyone that participates and gives a hand to folks that stroll through the MO forum. You have made this a pleasant place to drop in to see and learn about what is going on in this beautiful state.

Red face Awww, shucks!

Thanks, da Jammer! How nice it is to be appreciated!
It is especially nice since I only have a reputation of 17 and sometimes wondered what I was doing wrong.

It just so happens that I was just over in another forum and a guy started a thread saying he had just learned about voting and was feeling kinda silly. He's been a member since April and has made over 400 posts so I guess that makes me not feel so bad. I did know to click on the [+ Rate this post positively] but so often, I get that "spread the love around" message.

Well, another member wrote in and said you can click on the green boxes in the upper right corner to do the same thing. Well, I just tried it and it didn't work but I did go over to the measuring scales icon up in the right corner and it works!

She also said that if you see a post that you think should be reported for being bad, there's a triangle in that upper right corner that allows you to do that. She warned that it isn't just for when you disagree, however, and added, "There are penalties if you abuse this system. From what I understand, negative reps should be fairly rare."

And get ready for THIS!...She said that the forum requires you to give some reputation to 20 other members before giving it to that first person again! Wow! That's a LOT!

I feel like pulling a Paul Harvey and saying, "And nowww you knowww the REST of the STORY!"

Now, please don't think that this is just an attempt to get more votes. I have already said that I wish I had more but I also want to help others know how this system works. One of my old pastors used to call me, "Can't-help-but-help-Susan".

A young woman heard him say that once and said, "Is that me, too, Pastor?"

But he said, "No, you're 'Can't-help-but-Lead'". Hahaha! I think it was one of those had-to-be-there moments to appreciate it but I've never forgotten it because he had "hit the nail on the head" as far as I'm concerned, and I wasn't really aware of how I was. But it's true...it means a lot for me to make a difference, however small or unknown it may be. To go back to the votes topic, it's not about the votes to me...it's about gauging my effectiveness at helping others.

I've got to say that G4inMO is right about you, too, Da Jammer! You've been a great help and added some wit and humor to the forum that I, in particular, have appreciated. So, thanks back atcha!

[the check's in the mail,,, ]

da jammer - seriously,,, I am like wow, speechless... thanks And, likewise - you have some excellent/helpful posts.

MrsG - as relatively new here also, I too wondered about the point thangs, esp. if what was being posted was helpful or not to those in these threads. Funny that have received more rep points in the 'battleground' & other areas, not in the city/state threads... But, to me, its all good. My largest issue is trying not to come across as too passionate regarding MO, and her varied wondrous areas. BTW, you are very helpful - I believe ya might have a point or two regarding such...

MrsG, I have to spread the luv around a bit more before I can throw any more reps your way I am glad you brought up the issue with how to add to someones "reputation" as I think there may be some that weren't quite sure how to pull it off. I know people appreciate the in depth information that you two folks provide and I was kinda wondering why the "points" weren't adding up like I thought they should be Hopefully that will change now ShadowCaver, I am pleased that you overnighted the check but for some reason I don't think the bank will cash it. Pay to the order of "That nut in Nixa" ??? Well at least the amount was correct...seventy five cents.

You know what's weird? Having other people "praise" you when they do the very same good works!

What a great group we have here! I mean it when I say that I'm honored to be in such great company!

Thanks to everyone for making this such a neat place to visit...so much so that I decided to stay and join you!
