You can barbq ..or ya can go to a red neck barbq - I think there is a big difference!! My hubbys friends are all rednecks ............ I called them hillbillies and they were a little taken by it!
hubby wears bibs when he is working the farm ........sometimes with no shirt (dont get me started on skin cancer) he even has a straw hat ............ what does that make him?
I prefer to be at home out away from it all........... Im shy and sort of keep to myself .. .. what am I
We have 4 wheelers and go to tractor pulls ... watched my hubby and friends drive there 4 wheel drive trucks through our pond and ummm.......have to get them pulled out ....... (when we were digging it back out)
We hunt .. bow and arrow here .... we have guns .. we use that amendment we are honored with ya know............. so...
If we are rednecks then yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa we know how to have a good time !!
LOL I just had to add my 2 cents can ya tell? lol
On another note .. I was surprised that some people do not get firefly's .. that amazes me ..why is that? I can not imagine a summer without making them.......... I use to take the lights off make rings and necklaces and earings ... Its sort of a right of passage for kids!

SunshineHoney, I was born and raised in CA and they don't have them there. We visited grandparents and cousins here in MO and if you can believe it, that is the only place I ever saw them! I don't even remember seeing them on the drive from there to here. So, I had no idea they were up in NY, too! Here in the MO Forum, you really do learn something every day!

ShadowCaver, did you have as much fun writing that as it seems you would have? It was great! Thanks!

Sounds like your sister is also your friend, Haven! What a joy and a blessing that is! Now that I've moved to MO, I hope my sisters feel that way about me! It is definitely something to aspire to.
I haven't seen you 'round these parts of the forum before. Welcome! And thanks for sharing! I think that many of us with sisters felt the urge to call them after reading that!

Good evening, 2b! My husband said he and his brother used to streak them up his arms. I guess they were going for the indian look, huh? I only remember catching them in a jar. I'll have to call my older sister, the one with the amazing memory, and ask HER what we did with them! The big thing is that they remind me of being at my grandma's house and that alone fills me with warm fuzzies!
Thanks for the memories, everyone!

Have you ever met south-side hoosiers? I won't ask about any others or people might get the idea about bigoted remarks. Needless to say that it seems that many in St. Louis really don't know the are as well as they think they do.
I am not claiming anything that is not true. The facts are that my grandmother was a Hatfield. Facts are facts and I am proud of my ancestry.
BTW, white trash is the low-class people. Redneck does not necessarily mean low-class but it does to people who have no idea about honest to goodness rednecks. It proves my point that you have no idea who is a redneck or white-trash there in St. Louis. I know people of types of backgrounds. That may explain why I understand the terms much more than some do. I have been around millionaires and people who can barely make enough to survive on. That would explain why I understand the terms so differently than so many. When you have not been around and understand all kinds of people then you really only know what youi have read or been told.
Why in the heck would anyone think that there are no rednecks in St. Louis County? How small minded of you to even think so. St. Louis County has all kinds of people and they are not all yuppish, as you seem to be. Apparently you have never met people in the M aryland Heights area. Of course there was an area, before the airport bought out the property up on Gist Road behind the old Carrollton Subdivision. Like I said, you have not and do not know that many people.
|
So what the heck are you saying is your definition of a redneck? And do you confine them to a single region of the country? Because from my perspective every state has them.

Great idea, ShadowCaver! This is too positive a thread to allow that debate to take it over. Kudos to you! Ready to call a truce, ajf?

You got that right Lake Junkie. Missouri happens one of the most affordable states left in the country. Pluse, we must not forget all of the great people that reside and want to reside in the great "Show-Me" state.

Takes all kinds and all kinds of thoughts and we are sooo understanding of each other. And ready to debate any and all subjects. Must be why we are from the 'Show Me' state.

Awwwww...what ya go an do that fer? Wow did that picture bring back memories. What fun and being sooo daring then. Driving on the straight-aways as fast as ya dared, approaching the turn and just ever so slightly easing up on the pedal and just about in the middle of the turn, giving it all ya got again. Moving over to the left and pushing em outa yer way. Straight away again. Varoom.....watch my speed. Thanks
