Talking Western NY to MO

Hello everyone!
My name is Tori and my boyfriend and I are looking to move from NY to MO... we are both 21 years old and we have been out there 2 times only in the Jefferson City Area and Osage County... we fell in love with MO ... being we are from a small hick town up north were we have our own rodeo and tractor pulls... we would like to be in that same atmosphere.... if anyone knows of any towns like that... I would love to know...

We have pretty much come to the conclusion that it don't matter if he gets the job he is in pending for... we will move no matter what and find a job.

We like to Hunt... go to Rodeos... Tractor Pulls...Shoot Trap... and have alot of privacy... we like alot of the county routes.... and the Dirt Roads...

now.. my question to you...

Where would we fit in the best??

and

Anyone with the same hobbies.. let us know we would love to find out were the best places are to enjoy them!

Thanks for your help!
~Tori & Chad

A pair of 21 year olds, are after an area that offers: hunting, rodeos, tractor pulls, privacy, shooting, back roads, etc.,,,
with an atmosphere of a small town, with privacy,,,
w/o much regard to employment, and the paycheck to satisfy normal bills/rent/etc...

Hmmmm,,,

Is it just me, or does something seem amiss...

Can you guys really be a latter day Bonnie and Clyde?!?!?

Ok, seriously, what you are seeking can be found just about anywhere south of I-70. All of those aspects that ya have indicated as important are within just about every county in the entire state, but more hills and maybe tad bit more privacy and opportunities for 'backwoods' hunting in the southern tier - north is more flat, and while more birds, there are fewer gobblers and squirrels; if such matters.

Really, anyone could name a hundred different little burgs w/in this state [or for that matter, many other states ] that offer those qualities. Do you desire to be closer also to rivers [for floating/fishing], to interstate [for easier/faster access to bigger cities], to a bigger city [shopping, concerts, etc.], to places with higher rated schools &/or colleges [if kids and/or education matter now/future to yas], etc.?

If ya liked the JC area, then look at a map of that area, and then tad bit south, towards Rolla, and then hanker a wee bit to the east, towards Washington - maybe use that triangle to start with? And then maybe do the same thing, but to the west, instead of Washington, use Sedalia [which is where the state fair is held - many tractor pulls then... ].

Best of luck to yas, job wise and location.

From personal experience, Lincoln County has your name written all over it. I grew up there and it sounds exactly like what you have described. Lincoln County is about an hour north of St. Louis and borders the Mississippi River.

Like ShadowCaver said though, just about every county in the state will have several areas just like I've described.

Since you like to hunt, the deer hunting is MUCH better from the Missouri River north because of the agriculture in those areas.
