Closest to redneck? If you are implying that I, because I'm a suburban boy from St. Louis, have to be closest to a redneck, you've got to be kidding me. I have seen virtually NO rednecks anywhere around the St. Louis area, period. If they're here, they must be hiding from me, because I've been looking for them 21 years and never found them here. And don't say that I must be disillusioned...I know a redneck when I see one, and believe me, if they are here I would have noticed.

Ummm,,, me thinks that james80245 is referring to him himself, that he believes himself to be a rednecker, and that he lives in the 'burbs of StL. FWIW, I've seen some of them thar types in those places [i.e.: in the JeffCo, Fenton, and St Chuckles areas]. Of course, the definition of a redneck may vary from person to person...

if the people that live in those areas can be considered rednecks, then i can say for certain that those kinds of people exist EVERYWHERE. i don't consider rednecks to be confined to any region of the united states whatsoever.

Yup, I was refering to myself. My family, especially my extended family, are proud rednecks. I am kind of disconnected from the "redneck" thing though, but that is closest to me.. lol

I believe in God and Country and Family...and preach tolerance.

I cook with Bad Byron's Butt Rub...and things like tarragon, tofu & lentils.

I drive a Jeep...used to own a Volvo.

Love a cold beer on a hot day...and a dirty martini...two olives.

So.
I'm thinkin' pink.

I'm probably one shade darker than Lake Junkie! Can't quite say I'm a full-blown redneck--after all, I'm still here in northern CA!
I used to drive a Toyota like a good Californian...now I drive a Chrysler like a good Missourian. But a Dodge Ram truck like da jammer's would do better at putting me in the redneck camp.
I love listening to Charlie Daniels' fiddle....and my church choir director's 13-year-old daughter's violin when she performs in the youth symphony.
Similarly, I love the Outlaws (R.I.P. Hughie Thomasson, God love ya and I'll always miss ya) and the Kentucky HeadHunters (the song "Dry-Land Fish" with Fred Young on vocals is just a hoot!)....and also a Scharwenka piano concerto or a Shostakovich symphony.
I'm gonna have to find out about Bad Byron's Butt Rub. I love to barbecue outside and never get tired of southern fried chicken. But my dang bad cholesterol is too high so I need to eat more oatmeal and probably more dolphin-safe MSG-free organic fresh cage-free tofu fritters (raw, not cooked) and raw brussels sprouts with an organic carrot juice smoothie to wash it down. Truthfully, I'm trying to throttle back on the red meat and take fish and flaxseed oil supplements. It's just that when I go grocery shopping and see the 8 pieces of fried chicken for only $4.69 my taste buds go yummers!
I'm a total God, family and country guy, and would love to tell those military funeral protesters from that so-called Baptist church a thing or two. So would all the rednecks!
Total Second Amendment advocate. But I've never gone huntin' or even fishin' before!
I guess I come down in the pinkneck camp. Well that's better'n the pinko camp!
