Cape Girardeau is about an hour and a half south of the St. Louis area. I'd say Perryville is probably about an hour south of St. Louis area. Not sure about the job availabilities in Perryville tho. What kind of jobs are we talking about?

Perryville is an hour and a half south of STL.
Sainte Genevieve is exactly an hour south.
The OP has not really given enough info for me to make any recommendations, though.
What kind of work is the OP looking for?
What is cheap rent to the OP?
Where is the husband going to school?
OP should be advised that unemployment is running about 9.4% in Ste Gen and Perry Counties right now.
