Default Any word from Van Buren?

All,

Our family has been coming to Van Buren twice a year to relax and float at Big Spring State Park for nearly 40 years. Does anyone have any word on how the town is faring?

I see from the river gauge in town that the Current River is at 20+ feet (5 ft is flood level) but more impressively, the river discharge of 58,500 cubic feet/sec is nearly 2.5 times the record max flow from 1947.

It is going to be really bad up & down the Mississippi. I hope Ste. Genevieve is not devistated the way it was in '93.

The convergence of the Ohio & Mississippi is going to be downright ugly. Historic flooding predicted for Paducha,KY.

I remember a documentary on the Flood of 1993 that my grandmother has. It was insane the amount of flooding that was experienced in the region.
Ste Gens floodgates are in place, however, the creek that runs through the heart of town is flooding, havent been able to find out if they are sandbagging already.
Kaskaskia is flooding already.
I spent 4 weeks in Ste Gen during the flood of 93, sandbagging, it was awful!!!!
So many friends lost their homes......

As in evacuating from PB or are you/your mother headed home to MO?

Sorry to hear about your sister's house.

Mom is headed home to Poplar Bluff to help however she can, volunteering and so forth.
She will stay to help my sis clean up the mess, after the flood is over
Moms sisters are there, but they are on high ground, no chance of flooding for them, thank God!
I'm trying to find out what is going on in Ste Gen right now, to see what I can do, if anything.

If I wasn't in Rolla right now I'd be down at Dutchtown helpin sandbag....man I feel bad that I'm up here now.

I wonder how much of an effect this will have on cotton prices...

seMissourian.com: Local News: Mayor orders residents to evacuate Cairo (04/26/11)

The bridge to Kentucky is closed, The 60/62 Bridge to Missouri is closed, Mississippi County MO is flooded, and Alexander County is flooded north of Cairo. Where are they going to go? Only way out is I-57 Northbound I suppose.

Also,
http://www.kfvs12.com/story/14513133...n-poplar-bluff

Looks like another breach in the levee at Bluff

http://www.kfvs12.com/story/14515473...toddard-county

Also Stoddard County, MO. Looks like Bell City is in trouble now.

Anyone know if volunteers are requested in Bluff?

Just heard Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department on the scanner report that the diversion channel at Allenville is currently 50.4 ft .

STL and her family are on high ground to the north of PB, thank goodness.
Just heard that there is water from Poplar Bluff all the way to Quilin.
Gunner, I am sure cotton prices are going to be impacted, and perhaps rice, too.

My cousin sent this to me today, it was taken last night in Poplar Bluff.

Dang that's crazy.

Unfortunately the online scanner in Butler County (Poplar Bluff) is offline. I sure would like to know what the situation on the ground is. The Cape Girardeau County scanner is still up. They're focusing their efforts in the Allenville, Delta, and Dutchtown areas right now.
