My wife, kids and I are moving to Willow Springs from the great Pacific Northwest (Washington State). We are working on getting a little place about 3 miles out of town. I am trying to find some fun things to do with the kids around the area. The kids are 7, 9, and 11yrs old. They like to camp, fish, rafting, boating, anything to do with animals, swimming, and other kid stuff. I am also interested in the fishing oportunities in the area. My wife is interested in anything that gets me and the kids out of the house for an afternoon.

Greetings! You will have a great place there, surrounded by a wonderful scenic area. BTW, in case you don't know yet, the original town of Willow Springs [~10 miles away from current location] is named for a good sized spring, that is surrounded by some nice weeping willows - so right there you have potential nice spring; although I can't recall if it is accessible anymore... In any case, there are a wealth of awesome rivers w/in an hour or so drive from there, along w/ many other springs, some places w/in MTNF [Mark Twain National Forest], and so on.

Here are couple links to a area west and south-west to get ya started:
Theodosia Missouri Area Chamber of Commerce - Bull Shoals Lake
Mountain Grove Missouri Area Chamber of Commerce (broken link)

And imagine that you have visited this site: Willow Springs, MO

For some good info on fishing, might gander at: Ozarks Anglers - Home Page - ozarkanglers.com

This is one of my most favourite rivers, anywhere... Eleven Point River Conservancy Home Page

Lastly, a good ref for newcomers to get ideas, and for you in the SW corner of this region: Missouri's Ozark Heritage Region | Heritage Region Map

I expect to see some photos and reports from yas on your fishing, camping, hiking, and related excursions! Best to yas on your new digs...
