OH MY! OH MY! I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY!
You have touched my husband and I beyond words, to say the least!
I was so shocked this morning to log on and see this!
I can never explain how much these kind words mean to us and how much your prayers and well wishes swell our hearts!
Eric-You are such a special person and though "some" people in California are considered "unfriendly and uncaring", I can tell you must have hailed from Missouri at some point (even if in another life!) because you embody that midwestern spirit! You will thrive here once you arrive and I know that God will keep you close and watch over your family and your endeavors. So thank you... thank you... thank you! Now, go find that librarians job in NWMO!
To all the others-I have felt such wonderful support from those of you on this forum. Of all the forums I have ever been a part of, YOU are the ones I would turn to with the "important" life questions that I can't seem to answer on my own! I don't know how or when in society we ever got to this place, where we open up to total strangers, get responses, and actually feel good about it...but I am sure glad we did! (Beats the heck out of paying for therapy!!! )
To Ozark & Northwoods-We "faithfully" placed our statue of St. Joseph upside down in the front yard 3 weeks after the house went up for sale and have been praying daily. Although, I think it isn't working, as my husband is Jewish and I am Baptist But, we are praying just the same!
Again, thank you ALL so very much for your support. We sometimes feel so alone, and then, I come here, and I feel like you are all family!

Jewish, Baptist. I believe we all pray to the same GOD. Its our traditions that sepertate us. We just need to have faith. By faith we are saved, not by works so that no can boast. This is my belief.

You guys are just the best--you know that?
I am really humbled at your generosity and goodness, and the way you've responded to me here. Thank you ever so much!
In a little over 24 hours from now as I write this, relatives of the potential buyers are going to come to StJoeFanatic's open house, so this will be a critical time. Word of mouth is such a factor, and we need to keep praying and hoping these relatives are going to have the most positive feelings possible about the house that they can convey to the (hopefully!) future owners when they in turn see it for themselves for the first time this coming Friday.
I know there's religion forums here, but I think it's essential to realize (and I have to remind myself continually of this) that God always answers our prayers. Always. He may say yes, He may say no, and He may say yes, but you need to be patient and wait a while longer so His timing can be done. This is probably happening here because the right buyers need to come along at the proper time who will be really blessed by living in their new home. There's so much I try to understand and can't, especially since we're dealing in the present and not looking back at the past when you can look back and say, Oh yeah, that makes sense now!
We have to be open to the possibility that this sale with these potential buyers might again not work out, which would be a real blow to us. SJF, should this setback happen, try as best as you can to not get cynical and discouraged. That's easy for me to say now, but in a few months when my wife and I put our own house here in Santa Rosa up for sale, we may encounter the same situation. I just hope you can take much consolation in knowing you've got a great support group here, and that you and your husband have some new friendships (alexisnicolem and her family as well as me and my wife) that will soon take on a face-to-face quality if you'd like.
And I do think not only Saint Joseph, but very possibly MoMark, who was such a great contributor to the Missouri forums until he went home to the Lord earlier this year at a young age, knows this situation and is interceding with us as well. I was thinking of what I would write here earlier, and MoMark just popped into my mind. Funny, huh?
You and your husband are going to do great tomorrow, and this week!

Ok - have just went outside under the stars, looked to the cosmos above, see if there are any dancing falling stars, and added a few extra words for SJF - and also, along w/ all others that I've come to know in this forum over the past few months. The following are Cherokee:
May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

Time for me to put feather #238 in ShadowCaver's cap--if you know what I mean! Seriously, those are some great Cherokee words; thank you for sharing them with us and offering them to SJF.
When my wife and I went on vacation in Missouri in May 2006, we got to visit, among other places, the Trail of Tears State Park just north of Cape Girardeau. She has a little bit of Cherokee Indian ancestry. Though I was born and raised near St. Louis, it was our first visit to this state park for both of us, and it was a very moving experience. Go check it out sometime when you get a chance! Here you go: Trail of Tears State Park - Home - Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites, MoDNR
Edit: Reputation #238 has been backordered by order of the city-data folks who want me to spread reputations around--which I thought I just did! Be assured it IS on the way! Meanwhile, I hope you can see some of the Perseid meteor shower as this evening unfolds.

Eric - thanks... Altho' not feeling too good at the moment.
However, regarding the Native American words - I've some bits and pieces of various NA DNA coursing through my veins, and damn proud of such, and respect their ways, lands, beliefs, culture very much. Not to get off tract too far [sorry...], but when took the woman to Black Hills and Bad Lands of SD last year, had hard time holding back emotions of sadness concerning how such a proud peoples where, and have been treated. The Trail is a very similar place... don't know if I could go there.
Ok - back to topic You and SJ, and any/all others, are very much welcome - sincerely.

Update!
Open House this Sunday went well!
The relatives of the people from out of town came by and were blown away. Said it is "just like their family". The folks from out of town will be here this coming Saturday morning (instead of Friday) They e-mailed last night, said their family called and said it is a slam dunk...So, cross your fingers.
Also, at this open house, we had a family that actually asked for a contract to use to make an offer on the house! However, it would be contingent upon them selling their current home, which is not yet on the market, and knowing how bad our market is, we doubt there is anyway they will sell and close before our deadline...but, you never know!
Plus, another couple was there looking for a house for their church's new minister of music, who will be moving here in September with their 3 young children. They said they are actually scouting for them and will narrow the list down for their upcoming visit. They said they had been to MANY houses and we were at the TOP of the list!
So, at least things are looking up. I certainly appreciate your thoughts and prayers and promise to keep you informed!

Sounds very positive StJoeFanatic! I will continue prayers on my end! Having open houses are very stressful, but it's always great to get good comments from those coming through, at least you know your on the right track!

Sounds like it's all looking good!
This all sounds very promising! Still in the fourth quarter with several minutes left to go, so we can't let up, to use a pretty bad metaphor.
I'm pretty booked up here at work and don't want to overdue things here, so I'll check back in tonight! Thank you so much for the update, SJF! Eric

I had gone back to re-read your post and saw that they were flying in on Friday. I thought to myself, well that will be a really busy day if the potential buyers take a look at it on the same day they fly in! So Saturday morning then!
I'm trying to keep my excitement for your house getting sold in check, until we all get the wonderful news from you. But my goodness, of all the people who have looked at it since you put it up for sale, it does sound like the first couple and the church music minister sound at least as promising if not more promising than all the others! I'm just floored that we went from 1) Yes, we're moving and we're interested in the house to 2) No, it may be as long as a couple of years before we'll be able to move; and now 3) Surprise! We're moving after all!
Don't worry about giving us daily updates, just you and your husband take care of yourselves this week and we'll be nearby! To the rest of you, my continued heartfelt thanks to you all for your good thoughts and praying for victory in getting SJF's house sold.
