Thanks again for making all the great points that others can respond to!
Gnite!

Thx Doll. Just trying to throw some ideas out into the mix. Or should I say...'Partaaaay Mix'? hehehe Being flexible is still the best option at this point, and hearing all the ideas from Da Gang will make sure everyone gets a chance to chime in.

I do wonder about the driving distance though, once we move I mean...doesn't seem to be anyone in my neck of the woods in Gravois Mills so that might not be an option for me.
I do love all your ideas though, it's been so nice getting to know people here on this board, you've all been so friendly! I hope you get lots of folks interested, you can never have enough "good" friends!

Nana, thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's nice to have feedback in this early stage, because we do want to make sure to take everyones input into consideration. It's going to take some tweaking, but it'll be worth it so as not to leave anybody out. That's very important at this point. Hang in there...we'll figure something out.

ok but can I still poll? I would say lets all get together at shadows house, sit on the deck and have pizza and beer. No hooters girls please! I might get jealous. CATFIGHT!
|
Of course you can still poll!!! And I'm with you...I wouldn't be upset if the Hooters Girls couldn't make it... It wouldn't be good for my husband's health.
As for ShadowCaver, we'll just have to work on him and see what we can do. If we catch him at the right moment...we just might get him to cave. hehehe

Pizza and beer sounds pretty good...almost any time! Does Shadow know you're volunteering her deck?
But I just had another idea...what if we had a roving Coffee Club and when people from this group/forum are out here planning their move, we schedule a Coffee Club Visit for them to meet us all? Like...you tell us you're going to be in Podunk whatever on October 4th...anybody who can make it DO a coffee club visit!
I mean...this is such a wonderful bunch of helpful people...online...and this is a way for those of us who want to extend our hand of friendship into the tangible...just a thought. So it's not just Branson, or Springfield...but YOU up there in Columbia or St. Joe or Winston or wherever...form your own Coffee Club as an extension of this forum!
Say...we're meeting at Joe's Cup-A-Joe at 10 am the third Friday...get it started!
Whatayou'ns think?
|
LJ, as always....outstanding ideas!!!!! I love 'em all and think we should integrate them into the basic structure of the Club.
The Roving Coffee Club is a fantastic idea!!! OMG, I love it!!! ^^^^5. It not only gets our not yet Missouri members involved & acquainted with us, but it also gives us an excuse to get together again....and that's always fun!!!
Your suggestion to form a 'satellite' club in the northerly areas is also perfect!!! Because it'll not only give them a chance to get acquainted in their immediate vicinities, but it might open the opportunity for the 2 groups to meet in the middle for say....an annual gathering. How cool would that be??? Kinda like a reunion of sorts. The possibilities are endless...and with this great bunch of people....well, it just keeps gettin' better all the time.
Ok people, lets keep the input & comments comin'....we're gettin' on a role here....
Signin' out for now,
Boof

What fun!!!
WOW! You've been a busy little bunch, haven't you???!!!
I have been unavoidably detained most of the day today and it's late now and my list of stuff isn't done so tomorrow may find me with limited time to post, as well. That leaves me with no choice but to quickly respond here and let you know how fun this has been reading all your posts!
I am excited to see those very interesting results (so far!) and about the potential new OTFCC's, too! What a great bunch we have here!
I think we ought to try to schedule one of the other events in October before the holidays creep up on us. It looks like lunch has the highest score so far and wine and cheese tasting, too! Whatever it is, we don't have to schedule it now because it's still early...but what do ya'll think of the idea of a special event in October?
I've got to write one more post before I go to bed so I'll talk to you all soon. Btw, my first online class assignment arrived in my inbox today so that means I'll be taking more time to work on that for the next six to eight weeks. I "struck gold" last weekend when I learned of a distant relative of my husband who has been researching one of his family lines for about 40 years. We're sending information back and forth and that's another thing that has been keeping me busy. Genealogy is sort of a sporadic thing so it doesn't always keep me busy. Anyway, I'll spare you any other news. I just thought I'd give some sort of explanation for my absence.
I miss you all!
MrsG

Ditto for me too, being still up here in NorCal. Hopefully sooner than later you can make mine with plenty of sausage and a few anchovies, and wash it all down with some PBR!
Caffeine? Oh d-d-d dear dear. (Trying to imitate Piglet) I've got the opposite problem. If I have so much as a medicine dropper's worth of caffeine, boom! I'm wide awake at 2 am. Then my better half comes here into the room where I'm typing away here at the computer (well at least it's 2am YOUR time and only midnight MY TIME in this case! and says, "Aren't you gonna get to bed??!! ) I love iced tea, but even that has enough caffeine in it sometimes to spike and then crash. Here in Santa Rosa, I don't know what we have more of, Starbucks places or red traffic lights! I don't have a long-enough tape measure, but I would venture to say that on Mendocino Avenue here in town close to where it intersects with Steele Lane, there are two separate Starbucks within less than 1,000 feet of each other. I'm dead serious!
Anyway, we'll see what happens. It could be that me, StJoeFanatic and alexisnicolem will all be co-coordinators of the NWMO-St. Joe Division of the Meet & Greet out in Krug Park! Yeah!!

Well, you can have decaf or just do a fruit smoothie of some sort. Awww, heck! BYO drink! We don't care! We just want to see you and get to know you!
I'm with you on the caffeine and even the iced tea thing. When you don't DO caffeine, your body responds to it like the "drug" that it is. The good news is that we don't have the ups and downs of the caffeine experience. If you're like me, you're pretty much always "up", anyway.
NWMO Over the Fence Coffee Club!!! What a thought! We've only met once and we may have already spawned a new group! Well, in theory, anyway!

Damn,,, I like the ideas here so far...
Bunch of lovely women, some of them poor half naked half starved, in need of someone, errr,,, something to cover them up with... all frolicking on my deck, drinking some nice cool drinks, munching on some hot tasty lick your lips pizza, the sauce dripping down your chin, catfights,,, oh my...
/Hobbes retires semi-not-so-clean-thoughts, at least for a semi-brief moment or two...
Ok, just a quick observation/suggestion... maybe also ask or have a poll that would help narrow down the geographical area, to also get idea of how far someone would be willing to drive to such a meeting place? Thought is that seems that majority of those interested so far are in the SWMO-Branson area, but,,, might get more/additional interest if somewhere centralized, state wise, yet still keeping it closer to the majority?
Anyhow, just thought would throw them rambling thoughts out there, as I try to skiddle daddle out of work to drive ~4 hours to another plant to work some this weekend before week long conference this coming week, where Tues will be giving a presentation... ick...
Oh, if would like, and there be any interest in going into the dark with a shadow , would maybe be cool to go underground, maybe in the Onondaga and/or Meramec State Park Area? And picnic/etc. in the area there too, along the flowing stream?

LOL Settle down there Hobbes....hehehe Yer steamin' up the windows. Anyone got some defogger handy? LOL Looks like our man Hobbes could use some about now. ***Giggle Giggle Giggle***
And while your 'coolin' off', let me just say your suggestion for 'cavin' sounds good to me. That'd be the perfect place for some lighthearted group fun!!! But you know.....you'll have to take the helm and be the Commander on this mission. Are you up to it? I mean....what if you have underground Mass Histeria????? Ok, Ok....so maybe it's just me...LOL Should I take my Dramamine??? As a lifetime member of the 'White Knuckle Brigade'...the truth is that I've only been in one cave. But honestly, when it was all over, I have to admit...it was pretty cool. That, and the fact that I lived through it....definitely a good thing.
Your idea about gathering geographical info is probably not a bad thing either. It sure would help coordinate things better. However, I fear there are many that would like to keep their exact location on the 'down low' for privacy reasons....which isn't a bad idea. One suggestion might be that we can either poll for 'general' areas, like SW SE NW NE Central, or ask how many miles from...Springfield, West Plains, Kansas City, St. Louis, etc....or something along those lines. And at the same time, ask how far they are willing to drive for a gathering, whether it be for the OTFCC or for a special event.
Or, we can email our info to a trusted committee member and have them map it out and post the results in a generalized way.
Just a few thoughts.....ya'll think it over, add your ideas and we'll come up with something.
Over & Out for now,
Boof
