To all Trader Joes Fans !
We have heard many times here on the forum about Trader Joe's coming to Springfield. Well I picked up a free newspaper call Springfieldgo.com. The issue dated August 8-28,2007, Volume 2, Issue #26. Listed on page 8 was an article on Trader Joe's. It states that there is a link on the Downtown Springfield Association's MySpace page (myspace.com/downtownspringfield) , which is asking people to join in a movement to attract a TJ's to Springfield. I think this might be similar to a previos request, but it states that if 1,000 people from the Springfield area fill out the request form, that TJ's will defintitely listen being that their shipping lines bring them through Springfield anyway.
As quoted in the article from Heather Mansfield, "Trader Joe's is a way of life; it's like a culture, a lifestyle".
I hope even if you have never experienced shopping at TJ's that you could take the time to respond to the request anyway. If it does actually happen someday, you might like it. Thanks in advance to all that respond.

C'mon Branson Folk...
Now it seems to me that if Trader Joe's would even consider a location in Springfield...they would be just as likely to add TWO locations...one in Springfield and ONE IN BRANSON!!!
So I'm on it and please all you Branson/Kimberling City folk and gonna be folk...vote!
Thank you so much G4inMO...looking forward to meeting you & gripster next month!

Trader Joe's is GREAT!!! But you can easily spend alot more than you'd planned real quick! I go as a 'splurge' only....to get some goodies that I don't normally buy and my 9yr old son will eat stuff from there that he normally wouldn't look twice at, but he LOVES to go with me and pick things out.

Hi Gang,
Well, I did my part and filled out the Trader Joe's form to request a location in Springfield. That would be Sweeeeeet if we could get a TJ's here. I love that store!!! They've got stuff other stores can't even think of carrying. And ya just can't beat all the Organic and non-toxic foods they sell. When you know your food isn't packed full of preservatives, additives and toxins...it's easier to eat more. Well, maybe we don't ALL want that, but at least you can get rid of the guilt, huh?
And yes Rhonda, it can get pricey at times...but if you think of all the tasty & healthy things they offer, you're saving wear & tear on the ol' bod, and saving money on visits to the Doctor & Prescriptions.
But, bottom line....every little bit helps. So if it's just to splurge...then so be it. At least your are able to spoil yourself once in a while...and that's always a good thing.
G4, thanks for startin' the thread....it's nice to get the word out.
Castin' my vote,
Boof
PS: I do not have any affiliation with TJ's, not now or ever. I'm just a HUGE fan!!!

It's more than just a grocery store...
I did my part...and when you write in Springfield...please do me a favor and write in Branson?
It would actually be good business for them to have more than one store in a geographic area...for management, distribution, advertising costs...

Good point LJ. I'll go back and take care of that. Sorry I didn't think of that before. See, that's why 2 heads are ALWAYS better than one.

Hey, Rhonda! You just mentioned an important reason for going to Trader Joe's! Your 9 yo son feeling adventurous enough to try new things!!! Whoohoo! Now, THAT'S a GOOD THING!!!
Come to think of it, that's what it does for us, too! Even my usual meat & potatoes husband!
Some of their things are very inexpensive like their eggs and butter, as I recall! Oh! And their dark chocolate-covered raisins! Yumm! And...oh, well! I'd better stop there. Darn! I'm gettin' hungry and it's tooo late! I'd better get to bed quick!

'Spensive?
See, I don't think of TJ's as expensive. Although they have items that are gourmet or hard to find (like some wines) which may be pricey compared to Food4Less, they also have lots and lots of items that are good (like other wines) but affordable!
And before I hear about it....I DO make it past the wine section in Trader Joe's. I like the deli meat aisle...for smoked salmon...(there's a great wine that goes with that...) And the frozen food/chocolate aisle for dark chocolate covered espresso beans (have you ever had that with red wine? OMG...) And the cheeses...(with some, er, wine, of course...) And the cracker aisle has crackers you can't find elsewhere to go with...(wine...?)
OK. I give.
The wine aisle rocks.
