Real Gooey Butter cake would have a yeast risen cake base and not the yellow cake bases that some of these show.

I just tried my first Gooey Butter flavored cake today from the grocery store and not bad but it is stuck to my thighs as we speak. So does anyone of the real recipe like veiled prophet said yeast risen cake not the yellow cake bases.

How about pork tenderloin sandwiches? There are places on our way to the lake that have plate sized tenderloins. We cut them in half and make two meals out of them. Pork Steaks? I've been all over the country and never seen pork steaks in the meat cases. Fried fish, cornbread, corn on the cob (roast'n ears) fried taters and yes, smothered in cream gravy. My grandparents farmed in central missouri and she was such a wonderful cook. We made meals in the late spring of creamed peas and new potatoes. (We turned into vegetarians before it was "cool". My mom's side of the family is from Pennsylvania and some of the things we love here in the center of the country they turn their nose up at.

I went out to the freezer the other day, and someone (mother-in-law) had left some home-grown pork chops, pork steaks, ham steaks and bacon in there! Guess the little piggie finally went to the market.... She brings us this stuff in exchange for swimming in our pool. She also cuts and colors my hair for free and fixes home-cooked birthday meals for us. Mine is coming up soon- I usually ask for cast-iron fried chicken, chicken gravy, mashed potatoes and pineapple upside-down cake. Did I hit the jackpot or what?
