Certainly among the better states of the Midwest...as for the whole country, that's a matter of debate. But I'm flattered by the compliment, nonetheless.

yeah, I'd say more like middle of the pack, though the Lou is among my favorite cities in the Midwest.

Missouri is an underated state. Ozark mountain area is very pretty, and the scenery of the state in general is pleasant. Missouri is one of the 4 midwestern states people vacation in. The other three are Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. The midwest in general is greatly underated.

The combination of natural scenery and historic cities definitely ranks it near the top of my list.

Back in the 50s we drove Route 66 from the east coast to the west coast due to my father's military transfer. Coming through the Ozarks I was amazed at the beauty because it was the exact opposite of what I expected Missouri to look like. Now in retirement my wife and I are in our third year of having purshased and moved into our rural retirement home in SW MO on Table Rock Lake. We couldn't be more pleased by the beauty of the region and the history, both of which we take great pleasure in constantly exploring. Mark us down as huge fans of the state.
