I've lived in Phelps County all but four of my 45 years, and just never got into Pryors like some people! LOL Oh, it's good pizza, but I wouldn't drive back here just to get some, like some of my high school friends would (and do!). However, I do love Alex's Pizza! (Don't like their prices, though!)

Alex does have great pizza!!! There is just someting about Pryor's, some ingredient that I don't taste in other pizza.....maybe the crust...I just don't know what it is. AND I love how thin it is. SHOOT..now I want some!! LOL

Alex's Pizza is great because of the crust, I think. My wife and I go to Alex's about twice a year. That's all we can afford. Seriously, though, we ate at Alex's one Friday night, then at Matt's Steakhouse the next week. Matt's price with tip was the same as Alex's without. They are very proud of their gourmet pizza at Alex's. It is good.

I've heard that Penelope's has pizza that is very similar to Alex's, but at a better price. We haven't tried it yet, though, so I can't vouch for that. Have you had pizza at Penelope's, by any chance?

And in my opinion, Alex's used to be a better bargain, until they realized that they could charge more and all the UMR alumni would still buy it, regardless of the cost!

My dad was stationed there in the 60s. He said the area was a bunch of white trash, rebel flags, and wh*res. He said the guys would always go to town and get hookers for cheap. I also hear minorities were told to be careful when leaving base even today.

I don't know if all that is true now, or if it's more modern and cleaned up in that area of the Ozarks. I'm just picturing the movie deliverance.

LOL It was like that in the 60's. Just like that. Thankfully it is different today.

That was at least 42 years ago. I doubt they have changed much; do ya think? lol
