25 people shot, one dead, across city - chicagotribune.com

24 shot in 24 hours or something. Those gun laws work!

Individual cities laws rarely make a point.
New Orleans has the least restrictive CCW laws in the country, Chicago has the most restrictive.
Both cities are among the most violent in the country.

You missed the point, but that alright.

Well, I was just pointing out that even if the poster was from a city like New Orleans, it would not change the credibility or lack thereof of the point they are trying to make.

I still think the most fundamental issue here is how to prevent firearms transported on public transit from being stolen. If you can guarantee that a firearm transported on public transit is at no more risk of being stolen than a firearm transported in a private vehicle, then I can agree with this law.

If it's transported ON you and concealed rather than WITH (separate from) you it's likely in less risk of being stolen.

Very true, but the bill does not require that the firearm be transported on your body. It can be a purse, fanny pack, day pack, briefcase, etc. as well as all manner of insecure personal carry like pocket holsters.

Might be why it's a CONCEALED weapon permit, so others don't know you have it. If it's in something I dare say most keep it securely with them, not just lying around loose. My pocket holster works just fine when I use it and it would be very difficult for someone to get my weapon (or know I have one) - near impossible if I was sitting down on a bus.

Clearly you just don't like the idea of the proposal. That's fine. To each their own. But your arguments are....well....let's just say I don't find them convincing.

For all our NRA paid BS about how guns save lives, I've yet to see crime studies proving that we are safer for being able to carry guns. It's a poor idea, but I don't live there and don't plan to visit.
