Ouchy! Why in blazes would Jetton try to echo John McCain on this? The overwhelming majority of Missourians are happy to pick their own friggin' lettuce in 110-degree heat index temperatures, and are more than happy to welcome Mexicans and others who come here LEGALLY and OBEY OUR LAWS and make a decent attempt to become sufficiently conversant in the English language, just as we would be expected to obey Mexican laws and learn Spanish if we were going to relocate to Mexico!
And I might add that--I don't know if Jetton said or implied this--that as far as "jobs Americans won't do" are concerned, well maybe we should talk about jobs Americans can't do, because nearly 50 million of them have been aborted during the past quarter century. My first job when I was 16 was mowing lawns and other landscaping for all of $3.00 an hour (later $3.50), and I was glad to have the job and the money.
Well so much for the GOP keeping the majorities in the MO Senate and House if other Elephant Party members say and think the same thing as Rod Jetton. And here one of the reasons my wife and I are trying to bust out of California (besides trying to find a family-friendly place) is that we're desperately seeking a little helping of common-sense conservatism, a nearly non-existent commodity in Excremento. Can you still find it in Missouri? We sure hope so.
Darlynn, thanks for letting me co-vent right with you!
Oh, while I still have time to edit this post, I don't ordinarily like loads of bureaucratic red tape, but to sign that bill at the last minute and bypass county planning and zoning regs sounds kinda fishy, and I'm not talking in a Cali BassMan manner!

Reason: Dump on Jetton for signing Bill of Plaster.

Sister Kathleen Update
Briefly, she should be OK, but is still in the hospital right now. She took a very bad fall near our church parking lot last Sunday (5 days ago) when her heart began to race much faster than it should and she lost consciousness for a short period of time. One of our choir members told us last night that someone tried to give Sr. Kathleen CPR before the paramedics came, but apparently didn't check for a pulse beforehand--yikes.
Thanks to all of you so much for your prayers and thoughts for her!

Went through some more of these post cards, letters and such from the family farm that would have been discarded. May have to take some pictures of some of them and post here. Really exquisite and some really funny and some not very P.C..
Post cards 100 yrs. old. Some letters that age and most in the 1920's. What makes some of these older letters interesting that my hubby's aunt kept, are the references to current events of the times. The letters from the 1940's have a few remarks about Bob Hope and Sally Rand being at the base and entertaining the soldiers. Others mention the movies that the letter writer saw at their theatre. Also remarks about the war. Some sad.
Letters that were far too personal have been destroyed due to some of the content. You know, old love letters and such. She had no children and I just don't feel comfortable holding on to some of these. Others will be put into 5 groups to pass along to our children. Even some will give to the original letter writer or their children. You should see some of the older greeting cards. Lace, velvet and such on some of them.
So far I have put all of the post cards into acid free photo albums. This is really rather enjoyable to do. Keeps me out of trouble...well a little bit anyway. Enough for now, have to roam around on here for a bit and keep up with y'all. Take care.

Hey, Mrs. G., and others--my choir director's husband is doing OK. He suffered a bad heart attack over 10 years ago, and last year needed to have stints added to make the valves work properly, as well as a defibrillator. I think I've got that right. The defibrillator started acting erratic and his heart began to beat too quickly, leading to the brief hospital stay for him.
Brian's family--hmmmm, someone else had mentioned them previously, and I've gone back about 30 pages (or less than two months!) in this forum trying to find the reference to them and didn't succeed. So we need to get an update on them as well as on Kim, Darlynn's boss's wife. Hope I'm not getting anyone mixed up here! We've really been chattering up a storm here--this is a great thing!
"northbayeric is just really nice." Aw, gosh, shucks, golly gee whiz, you're too kind, no really, I don't quite know what to say, what a pal what a pal what a pal!!
