He was on his living room floor, gone.
So, please say a prayer for my friend Brian Simpson and his family, we all called him Soup. Soup had been thru some tough times recently, lost his job, got divorced and kind of bounced around from one friend's couch to the next for a while. He finally landed a good job about 6 months ago and was turning things around.
Thru all the tough times I never saw him lose his spirit, he always had a smile for a friend. Soup was saved so he is in a better place but he left us all way too soon, he was 45.
Enjoy every day folks because it could be your last! Life is a fleeting thing.

How sad to hear about Brian! I'm sure that you and others will wonder if you did and said all that you could to him but one thing I'm sure he'd say if he could...he'd say that the world was a better place because of you and he was grateful for all the good he did have. He'd want you to know that he is in a good place and that even though he was surprised, God wasn't surprised by his heart attack. Brian knows and you need to know that he was "alone" when it happened because it was "his time to go". And somehow I know that he would want you all to know that he didn't die from a broken heart...but from a faulty one.
What a sweet time will be had by all at the funeral/memorial as they remember "Soup" and realize that his life was not in vain. He was and still is an inspiration to others. Your post is proof of that. I'll be praying for all who are grieving over his death...even while I rejoice that you will be seeing him again someday. Hey! I guess that means that I will, too! I look forward to it!

By now kshe95girl should be soaking up the rays at the Daytona 500. Hope she is having a blast.
I'm watching it on TV and drinking a beer wishing I was there.

A tough time for many of us...
Well this weekend I had a couple of bad scares too, and thankfully they didn't involve me directly. But even so.... My choir director's husband Steve, who has had heart trouble for over ten years, had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital Friday when his heart defibrillator (sp?) stopped working the way it should, and his heart rate went up too high. Thank God they were able to take care of it, and he was able to come home the same evening, and to church this morning.
In a more serious situation, I was walking out of our church this morning after Mass and saw someone lying on the ground with an ambulance and fire truck nearby. It turned out to be Sister Kathleen, who has been in our parish a long time, and who has served as a lector (the one who reads the opening announcements, first and second readings from the Bible, and the "prayers of the faithful") and eucharistic minister (Holy Communion). She apparently had a heart attack when she was walking down the stairs outside the church, and had fallen violently to the ground. This was less than 20 minutes after Sister Kathleen had given me and many of our other parishioners Communion. An eyewitness said her face was turning blue before the paramedics were able to rush over to the front of the church parking lot where she had fallen.
I will let you know how she's doing by the end of this week, but in the meantime, if I could come to all of you once again and ask you to keep Steve and Sister Kathleen in your prayers and thoughts, it would mean so much. And we'll all continue to pray for the peaceful repose of Brian Simpson's soul and for Darlynn's acquaintance Kim and her situation. Take good care, everyone!
