Back to the original topic: I have been an X-ray technologist for 18 years. I am also registered to do mammography, although I haven't worked in that field for a long time. My husband makes explosives. Carthage is home to the last nitroglycerin dynamite factory in the U.S. The plant also makes blasting caps and emulsion explosive, which is what my hubby does. He has worked there for 20 years.

Oh now firebll31 talkes about her hubby. I guess I need to brag. My husband is in the Construction Field for 25 years. He is currently working in the power plant as a welder for a boilermaker. He has done numerous jobs such as a bridge builder(San Fransico Bridge), piledriver, welder(disney concert hall in L.A.), construction ( build me home with his own barehands). Excellent craftmanship. He works based on the economy and season. I am so proud of him even times are tough. Everything has changed since 9/11 and now the housing market as turned.

Firebll,
Aren't you scared to death with hubby's job??? That's worse than bein' married to a cop!!! He must have nerves of steel!!! I bet he'd be good at blowin' up them big buildings too. Please tell him for me that I'm in awe of his talents!!!
Blown Away,
Boof

Actually, he was a cop too for nine years-Jasper County Sheriff's Reserve. That scared me more than the dynamite plant. They have had about 6 times when he had to run through the woods since he worked there, only one was a decent sized BOOM. He had to go to the hospital once-because he ran through ragweed and is severely allergic. He had to have breathing treatments and shots. So far, no one has been injured during an explosion because of the safety features. Carpal tunnel surgery and back problems are the big worries.
