My first paid job ever was cleaning out new houses for my dad, who was a builder. They had to be cleaned twice, first after the framers got done and I picked up pieces of 2x4 and nails and stuff. The second time was after the tapers & painters were done, cleaning out the bathtubs & scraping the labels & splattered mud off the windows and vacuuming & stuff.

My first "real" job was dishing up fish'n chips at age 16. It was short lived but the owner said he'd never hired a kid who "really knew how to clean a kitchen." Since then I've been a short order cook, cashier, waitress and sandwich maker.

I worked in a bar one night but was too embarrassed by the short skirt I had to wear to go back.

I've been the box office queen at a drive in movie theater.

I worked in a foster home for emotionally disturbed children while I was studying psych at age 18 but got fired after I told the state the owner was always drunk.

I learned the value of hard work when I ran away and joined a carnival.

I learned sales & marketing in one of the nation's most prestigious portrait studios.
I also learned photography. I managed portrait studios, freelanced weddings, child & family photography.

I was a wife & mom.
(There's a really tough job...!)

I got my degree in clothing design & sewed for "hard to fit" clients before spandex.
I worked as a remodeling contractor, painter & handy"man".

I sold radio advertising in 4 states.
I worked marketing race tracks.
I managed a radio station.

I worked as an independent marketing consultant.
(Still advise a couple of clients.)
Now I'm following my dream of helping people make one of the most important purchases of their lives. Last weekend was a perfect example. I worked 36 hours out of 60...but when "she" cried when the offer was accepted...so did I. And I wasn't even tired any more.

Good thread. Thanks all of you who share your lives on here.
you've done all that in your lil ole 29 years??

I have done child care at my church. I stocked shelves for a priceclub in Pomona. I worked a two different pet shops and a pizza place. I have been a week end warrior and worked at a chevy dealership. I have mentioned befor that I am now a muralist, wife and mother. My favriot jobs of all time. I have never mentioned that im studying the art of tattoos. Which of you, if any, have one?
My husband lets me practice on him. You would be surprised how many people are willing to let me , a beginner, just go to work on them. DH is the only one Im willing to work on at the moment. Im not sure that its something I want to do all the time but for the moment its a challenge I want to take on in my spare time. You know like knitting only with a different kind of needle. LOL!

My daughter has been asked to draw several locals tattoos
she drew mine .. I have a Hindu ankle bracelet ... and a funny shaped heart on the front of it ... the heart stands for "to remember where you came from always looking forward not looking back" and the Hindu part ..... well In India when a woman gets Henna done for her wedding .........she does not do housework till it wears off - its the mans responsibility - this is the greatest gift a father can ever give his daughter - better work longer stay
so I got a permanent one - and hubby still don't do houseworklol
I love the Indian culture very fascinating part of the world ..all the traditions all the celebrations .. all the color

dh says I can not get another tattoo - women are not to have them bla bla bla .........so .. lol do ya want to practice .. I really want a dragonfly

That's it...you win! I think you've had the most and the "funnest"! Hahaha! I didn't put anywhere near as many of my jobs here, just the highlights, and I see from another of your posts that you still didn't list all of yours! Whew! You must be as old as the hills! Hahaha! I have GOT to get me some of your SKIN CARE PRODUCTS!!! Okay, okay...just kiddin'! I can do that since I'm older than you are!

So, speaking of other jobs, my first job was as a dishwasher when I was about 14. Then, at 16, I became a waitress...but didn't last long after a busload of people came in and filled up my entire station at once. It was filled with teens who didn't have much money and they ordered all sorts of things I had to fix myself. I didn't know how to handle such a crowd and my manager realized I was in trouble when I had 17 drinks on one tray, heading out to try to find who they belonged to! Hahahaaa!

My most unique job was as a magician's assistant. That was a lot of fun but I wouldn't be able to wear those costumes any more!!! My eyes! My eyes! Now, don't any of you ask about how those tricks are done. I am sworn to secrecy! Really!!! You have to sign a paper!

Another interesting job was as a demo coordinator for a company who sold a line of products in the grocery stores that were from restaurants in their gourmet restaurants. I was over all of southern CA and since the company was in northern CA, I was in charge of all of the hiring, training and scheduling of all of the demonstrators as well as delivering the material and products to the stores that would be used in the demos each week. Now, THAT was a JOB! I enjoyed it but I hated working weekends.

I loved my time working in a flower shop...but hated the hours. Actually, I worked part-time except when the holidays came around and then I worked as many as 16 hours a day! That was one of my favorite jobs, though.

Well, all that talk about work has made me tired! Hahaha! I've got to get away from this computer so I can get out and enjoy this absolutely stunning Missouri day!

I bet this weather will bring out the potential buyers! Hope you don't work too hard...and that it's a profitable and fun day for you, L J!

Bent my husband does men type of knitting. Welding.... Maybe you should try that because you can make good money doing just that.....
I love watching Miami Ink and the NEW L.A. ink show. I am fascinated with it but never had the courage to get one. I love to paint so I would stick with that.

First job I had: Cook at fast food chain. It was hard work for an undisciplined 16y/o kid.
Quit 4 months later....
Next on the list: Pizza delivery driver for a mom and pop pizzeria in St. Louie. Good job for a 17 y/o kid. Drive around. And what do kids do anyway????.... Drive around. Why not get paid for it!

College Student days: Regular blood plasma donor at a place in downtown Springfield 8 blocks from home. I've still got the scars to prove it. Did it twice a week for years! 16 bucks a donation. Also work at a loading dock for the science building (Temple Hall) at SMSU (now MSU). I remember a delivery of mud turtles for the biology dept. one time in these special vented boxes. The chemistry dept had all of the dangerous, smelly stuff.

Finished college with a cartography degree and now do mapping and GIS work for a private company. I'm gonna keep my plasma from now on...

Hey Lake Junkie, I don't even come close to measuring up to you!! WOW! Radio, carnivals, etc.etc.etc. Not bad for a 29y/o.....
