Ft. Leonard Wood to Kansas City (Grandview, Overland: to live, buses, train)

My son just was sent to FLW for training (Marines). Does anyone know of an inexpesive way for him to get back and forth to Kansas City (Overland Park) on the weekend?

I don't have an answer myself. Buses would be way to slow unless he traveled at night. If so i think Grandview might be a drop off place. You might check with the base resources officer or whatever name it is called.

Greetings fredbiss - first and foremost, please take my thanks to your son; and secondly, one idea may be to have some posts at Ft Wood regardin car pooling? As Versatile indicated, buses would be fairly slow, and train service is kinda spotty between those two locales. Hope he enjoys the area - used to live ~30 minutes to the SE of there. Best to him, and your family.

My husband was stationed at Fort Wood many years ago. During his time there, he drove many of his buddies to the Chicago area on the weekends. He told me that that is a common practice on the base. He should post notices and such around, and make inquiries of those he knows and check w/commanders and others. Good luck to him and thanks for his dedication to our country.
