Hi everyone,
My husband might have the opportunity to get a job in the Jackson area. And if so, we would need to find a fairly decent size, at least 3 bed home, that would accept cats. Any idea where to search on the internet for that kind of thing? No listing on Craig's List for the SE Missouri area that I could find. I have read some of the posts on the area, but I would also like people's perspective on the junior high school/senior high schools and the people in general. I originally come from OK so I'm used to the small town atmosphere. Currently we live in San Diego, so in regards to how expensive it is or crowded it is couldn't possibly compare to where I live now. However, I would like your opinions on the schools/friendliness of people/overall environment and any websites that you might be able to direct me to (through my personal messages folder of course ![]() Thanks so much everyone!!! |

You could also contact a realtor in that area. They also have access to home rental information.

I lived in Cape Girardeau for 2 years, 2004-2006.
Rentals, from what I remember, are abundant. Try the local paper, the Southeast Missourian at semissourian.com. I rented 2 houses while I lived there & both I found in the paper. The atmosphere in Cape is wonderful! Downtown is usually busy with shoppers & just people walking & hanging out. My fav spot was down by the river. The art, which is very lovely & just being by the water whenever I wanted was great. I have a toddler, so not much info on the schools, but my friends have teenagers, both which were into sports & made very good grades. The childeren in Cape aren't huge partygoers, from my experiences & everyone seems to be very family oriented. I miss it there, I now live in Arizona & realize All the wonderful things that I took for granted. Good luck!! |

Hi there I live in Jackson and used to live in cape if you come to this area you'll want your children to go to jackson R-II schools they are without exception the best!!! I have five children from ages 11 to ages 17 who have excelled in these schools my oldest is now a part of student Embassedors who will be traveling to Australlia this summer to be exposed to other cultures and animal species it is very exciting. The teachers in the special ed classes, which unfortunatly my youngest is in, are the best they work with students who are autistic as well as just ADHD afflicted children I wouldnt wanna live anywhere else with my children than Jackson MO and I have lived in Florida, Georgia ,Tennessee and Pennsylvania in the past and so far my expeirances with Jackson schools have been better than anywhere else in the country I have lived. The people here are friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. This is a small town and we are growing quickly. I hope you find jackson to be a great place to raise children."can't say that about many places these days"
