I and born and raised around Springfield. I absolutely love here because it is my home but the pay has gone dooooown hill for laborers. Hubby is now working in St. Louis and part time living near Farmington. We are moving there as soon as we are out of the hole. He has been gone except for weekends for over 2 months. The seperation is HARD. I can't wait to move. I am looking at area around south 55 and 67. But I think Iron County is so beautiful and just has such a "feel good" vibe about it. ESPECIALLY Arcadia Valley, but that is just too far out there for me right now. Of course we have to be close to the sparkling cold Black River. We have such good freinds in the Lesterville area that it makes moving closer even better. Then again I have to be close to the city because its hockey season of course! I just hope we fall into the perfect home as we have always done. If anyone knows of a rental house, please feel free to contact me via this forum!

We live about 20 miles north of Springfield. It's nice that it's close enough to drive in for major shopping or other errands, yet it's far enough away that we've still got that small town sense of community. Our town is about 4500 people and it's got all the necessary ammenities for daily living. The countryside is so beautiful.....and it's peaceful! During our search for a home, we ventured into Joplin, Nevada, Carthage, Highlandville, and other areas in the vacinity. While some areas were very pretty, others were declining. But I must say, the area between Springfield & Branson is absolutely stunning!!! The drive is to die for! We've yet to go towards West Plains, St. Joe or St. Louis, so I can't comment, although I do look forward to seeing them one day. Good luck in finding your piece of paradise in MO. It's gonna be tough.
